Award-winning Ghanaian Afro Soul musician, Sherifa Gunu has expressed the need for Ghanaian DJs and Presenters to promote Ghanaian songs.
The Ghanaian Afro Soul musician could not understand why Ghanaian DJs and presenters do not promote her songs by playing it often.
According to her she is a Ghanaian hence her songs must be played just as songs by other musicians are played frequently.
“In as much as songs by Obaaapa Christy, Selina Boateng, Adina, MzVee is being played frequently i am saying my songs must be played as well” she emphasized.
In an interview with Trudy MaameAma Gyan on In Him is Life Tv ahead of the 13th SICA Music Festival to be held in Guinea Miss Sherifa Gunu noted that DJ’s not understanding her language should not be an excuse for not playing her songs often adding that she always promote Africa’s culture through her music.
“I promote Africa’s culture in the way of dress, our different skin colour ,our looks among others” she noted.
This she believes DJ’s should consider since she is in a way exhibiting and selling Africa’s culture to the rest of the world.
Sherifa Gunu is popular with her strong stage performances and some other great music tunes such as ‘beautiful’. She is representing Ghana at the 13th SICA Music Festival slated for 22 to 28 April.
