Manhyia bans funeral rites to mark Asantehene’s 20th Anniversary

The Manhyia palace says no funeral rites will be allowed in the Ashanti region from April 8  to 29 .

This is to pave way for the celebration of the 20th Anniversary celebration of the enstoolment of the Ashantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu.

A statement signed by chief of staff of Manhyia, Nana Kofi Badu stated that the directive is in line with customs and traditions of the Ashanti Region.

“Manhyia Palace wishes to announce for the information of the general public that in accordance with Asante customs and tradition, Asanteman will observe a ban on funerals from Monday, April 8 to Monday, April 29, 2019, to mark the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the enstoolment of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene,” the statement noted.
