POLICE LAUNCHES INVESTIGATION INTO SHOOTING AT KUMASI

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has launched investigation into a shooting incident that took place at the regional office of the National Democratic Congress, NDC at Kumasi leaving one person dead and the other seriously injured. This was contained in a statement signed by the Assistant Commissioner of Police David Ekle.

According to the statement, Preliminary investigations have it that there was an ongoing meeting between National Executives of the party and its regional executives on February 18, 2019.  While the meeting was in progress gun wielding men on motorbikes invaded the premises shooting indiscriminately.

Further information gathered at the scene indicated that  four persons alleged to be members of the Hawks, a pro NDC vigilante group was behind the attack. So far four suspects namely Husein Barnabas aka Warrior, Damos, Mijima and Abu Taliban are being pursued by the Police the statement said.

Meanwhile the crime scene  according to the statement has been cordoned off by the regional police Command to assist investigation. The police Command  therefore appealed to the general public to remain calm as its working closely with the NDC executives to get the perpetrators arrested. The statement urged anyone with information on the suspects to assist the police by volunteering information that can lead to their arrest.

The police administration expressed condolence to the deceased family and wished the injured speedy recovery.
